The Sankt Annæ Youth Choir has returned from its tour to Germany, Austria, Hungary and the Czech Republic.

The Sankt Annæ Youth Choir in concert

The Sankt Annæ Youth Choir performs a wide range of concerts, sacred and secular,  with a repertoire, consisting of contemporary as well as classic works for choir - a capella, or accompanied. The choir has  cooperated with The Copenhagen Philharmonic on specific concert projects since 1989.

The choir has been in national radio og TV many times and has, besides domestic tours, toured Israel, Germany, Britain, France, Iceland, Russia, USA, Poland and the Tchech Republic. In 1995 the choir toured South Africa, as the first of its kind to do so. October 2001 the choir toured Canada, where it was on Canadian national TV in connection with benefit concerts for The New York Firefighters. October 2003 the Sankt Annæ Youth Choir and the Sankt Annæ Big Band made a joint concert tour to Sweden, Finland, Estonia and Latvia.

Conductor

Flemming Windekilde Flemming Windekilde (born 1961) has a degree in musicology from the University of Copenhagen and furthermore he has studied choral and orchestral conducting at the Royal Danish Academy of Music in Copenhagen. 1987 – 89 he was conductor of the Concord Brass Band and since 1988 conductor of the Choir of Young Academicians, a choir which is very active in performing a capella works and oratorios. Furthermore Flemming Windekilde is conductor of the Chamber Choir HYMNIA with which he became the Copenhagen Performer of the Year in 1998. With his choirs he has often participated in International Choir Festivals where he has won several first prizes at competitions all over Europe. Besides he has made numerous CD recordings for instance with works by Frank Martin, Francis Poulenc as well as recent Danish choir music. He is a frequent conductor with various Danish orchestras and vocal groups, among others ARS NOVA, Athelas Sinfonietta and the Danish Radio Chamber Choir which he conducted for the first time in the year 2000.
In 2000 he started as a lecturer of choral and orchestral conducting at the Department of Musicology at the University of Copenhagen and at the same time he started as conductor of MUKO, the Copenhagen University Choir.  From 2001 he is artistic leader and conductor of the Sankt Annæ Youth Choir.

 

The staff

The staff of the Sankt Annæ Youth Choir is:
Hans Henrik Balslev, Marianne Karlberg, Uffe Englund and Jeppe Struve Larsen. Otto Leander is the manager and Tour leader of the choir, Martin Granau is the executive producer and Jonas Kornbeck plays the piano at rehearsals and concerts.
